Society Wide Aid Giving
Each of us are doing what we can to safeguard against COVID-19 and acknowledge there is still more to be done. In grocery stores, drug marts, restaurants, and other essential places of business, it is evident that front line workers are without proper masks and face shields.
The thought of SWAG (Society Wide Aid Giving), is to bring together COVID-19 AIDERS with GIVERS in ONTARIO. I cannot promise all requests for PPE will be fulfilled but every effort will be made to reach out to support organization, well-wishers and friends who can give.
Based on discussions with hospitals and doctors, their PPE requirements are now being met by Ontario Health. There are still preventive measures needed for RTKs (Rapid Test Kits), Contact Tracing apps, a Centralized Distribution System for PPE and others. Work is ongoing to find funding from corporate businesses to help.
The flu / influenza season in Ontario typically goes from late fall to early spring. It is important to prepare now and to understand what additional steps can be taken, and what learnings are available from countries that are now experiencing their fly cycle.
Protective face shields for front line workers in public facing positions is essential. I have made a personal commitment, in a small but tangible way, by providing 120 protective face shields to those working in essential businesses like grocery stores, drug marts and restaurants.
